Communications and Development Associate

Compensation: $30-35k, commensurate with experience

Term: 90-day contract, with opportunity to transition to permanent staff

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts

Position overview: Solstice seeks an enterprising individual with a knack for the written word and visual storytelling to manage our growing brand and communications efforts. The role offers significant responsibilities in an award-winning clean energy startup.

Primary responsibilities will include:
-Formulate online marketing strategy and analyze its effectiveness
-Generate digital content including social media posts, blog posts, press releases, newsletters, online ads, and videos
-Create marketing collateral such as flyers, yard signs, and descriptive blurbs
-Manage company website and optimize pages for relevant keywords
-Collect testimonials from customers
-Draft applications for grants and business competitions
-Identify and engage with potential funders
-Compose progress reports to existing funders
-Take notes on calls, webinars, and meetings
-Assist with general administrative tasks

Qualifications for this role include:
-Progress toward or attainment of bachelor’s degree, at a minimum
-Excellent writing skills a must
-Ability to articulate Solstice’s value proposition to key stakeholders with passion and energy
-Extraordinary attention to detail, highly motivated, creative, proactive, team-oriented, self-starting, and resourceful
-Amenable to the demands of a start-up environment, such as variable work hours, tight deadlines, and limited supervision
-Proficiency in using online platforms such as social media, Google Analytics, MailChimp, Salesforce, and Squarespace
-Previous professional experience with start-up organizations and/or clean energy and/or social enterprises preferred
-Experience with marketing and/or fundraising preferred
