Bridge to MassChallenge Warsaw Launches Applications

First-ever program strengthens the innovation ecosystem across the CEE region and connects top startups to the global market

Boston, Sept. 1, 2017 – MassChallenge, the most startup-friendly accelerator on the planet, today announced that applications for the first-ever Bridge to MassChallenge Warsaw program are now open. Startups across industries and from around the world, particularly in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, are welcome to apply to participate in this global competition by October 6.

With support from PKO Bank Polski and the Foundation for Technology Entrepreneurship (FPT), Bridge to MassChallenge Warsaw strengthens the CEE innovation ecosystem and drives the creation of high-quality jobs and sustainable growth. Leveraging MassChallenge’s proven model, the program identifies and connects high-impact startups to the global resources needed to launch, grow, and create impact – all at zero cost and for zero equity.

“MassChallenge is one of the world’s most recognizable startup accelerators. We want to take advantage of its potential, attract the best CEE startups to Poland and open opportunities for international expansion of the best ideas,” said Szymon Wałach, Director of the Retail Client Division at PKO Bank Polski. “PKO Bank Polski is the biggest bank in CEE and is also very keen on innovations. We hope that among startups that apply to the program we will find such with whom we will be able to establish direct cooperation.”

Following a competitive application process, selected startups participate in intensive, multi-day boot camps in Warsaw and Boston to access one-on-one mentorship, networking opportunities, and other support. Top startups advance to the semi-final judging round at one of MassChallenge’s accelerator programs around the world, where they’ll have a chance to compete for shares of more than $3 million in equity-free prizes globally.

“The CEE region is full of potential, with promising startups well positioned to create global impact in financial technology, clean energy, and more,” said Mike LaRhette, President of MassChallenge. “We’re excited to collaborate with PKO Bank Polski, FPT, and others to connect key players, strengthen innovation across the region, and support the world’s best companies in Warsaw.”

In addition to Warsaw, Bridge to MassChallenge also supports Australia, Colombia, France, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, and Spain. To date, 1,211 MassChallenge alumni have raised over $2 billion in funding, generated over $900 million in revenue, and created over 65,000 direct and indirect jobs.
