2017 Israel Diamond Winner

100M small farmers in India LOSE money on average from agriculture, largely due to climate risk. Kheyti changes that through its "Greenhouse-in-a-Box", a low-cost greenhouse kit bundled with services. Our greenhouse fits in 2% of a small farmer’s land, protects crops from external risks and grows 7x food using 90% less water. In addition, we work with partners to offer financing, inputs, training and market linkages, creating a seamless path towards steady incomes >$100/month and out of poverty.

We are a social enterprise whose mission is to catalyze grow through solar energy.
Just in Mexico, more than 500 thousand households located in rural communities are still using expensive, environmentally damaging and unsafe solutions to have a light at night. Our solution is simple: change those sources for renewable energy SHS and provide better quality illumination with an inclusive financial scheme that helps us to achieve our vision for all Mexicans to have electricity by 2025.

Renovagen have developed the "Roll-Array" transportable solar power system. It's a solar farm which unrolls from a container or trailer in a few minutes - to power mobile hospitals, desalination plants, mine sites, military bases and more. Batteries and inverters are built-in for 24/7 power - it can be used just like a genset. Our air-pallet container can be flown anywhere in the world on normal aircraft and packs up to 18kW of PV - 10x more power and much faster setup than existing solutions.

Our retail stores create dignified & empowering experiences for families to begin improving their lives

2014 Boston Diamond Winner

200 million people across India and Bangladesh suffer from arsenic and fluoride poisoning due to contaminated drinking water. Drinkwell transforms this $2.3B market into economic opportunity by blending novel water filtration with a franchise business model to provide 20L jugs of water daily to customers for a low monthly fee. Compared to reverse osmosis, the current best practice, Drinkwell delivers 60x more water, is 16x more energy efficient, and reduces waste by 7 orders of magnitude.

Catie’s Closet, provides, through it’s in-school, discreet resource, essential clothing and basic necessities to homeless students and those living below the poverty line. Students are able to privately access what they need – which helps remove barriers to learning and school attendance. Participating students want to attend school. We are helping kids fit in, feel valued and focus on education. By providing a hand-up over a hand-out, we are leveling the playing field for at-risk students.

2012 Boston Diamond Winner

20 million people in developing countries need a wheelchair. Existing products don’t work on the rough terrain and break easily. We designed the Leveraged Freedom Chair (LFC) to solve this problem. It uses a lever drivetrain made from bike parts, enabling users to travel 80% faster than a standard wheelchair on tarmac and off-road like no other mobility aid available, while ensuring local repairability. The LFC empowers people with disabilities to access education, employment and independence.

Y2Y is building a network of student run homeless shelters for young adults ages 18-24. Young adults are uniquely vulnerable on the streets due to high rates of LGBTQ identity and experience in foster care. Y2Y provides sanctuary to move guests quickly off the streets, surrounding them with resources to facilitate their pathways out of homelessness. Y2Y provides opportunities for guests and volunteers to become the next generation’s leading advocates for youth-driven solutions to homelessness.

Dechets a l'Or is a tech-enabled provider of infrastructure services to fast growing cities of West African. We use a proprietary database system to enable city mapping to support service delivery to households and businesses. We collect and process solid waste to produce, fertilizer, energy, and electricity. Dechets a l’Or uses technology to provide better waste collection service, our mission is to make cities cleaner places with brighter futures through professional service delivery.

Miracle Messages helps homeless people record short video messages to their loved ones, and delivers them via social media as a step toward reuniting families. It’s deceptively simple, and it works. To date, our mobile and web apps have reunited 42 people, 14 of whom are now in stable housing. We just received a $200K grant to implement MM at a systems level in SF, and many other cities have reached out after learning about our impact from 350+ articles. Our goal is to reunite 1M people by 2021.

Globally, 2 billion people are malnourished and anemic. Health impacts range from impaired physical and cognitive development, to infant prematurity, to death– 1 million people annually. Untreated anemia in children can have lifelong impact; 178M are undiagnosed today.
Obz Design is addressing the critical challenge of anemia diagnostics with a revolutionary non-invasive device that will replace blood testing. Our solution is 50 times less expensive, 400 times faster, and safer for patients.

49 million Americans are hungry and food insecure (including 660,000 in Massachusetts), yet wasted food accounts for almost forty percent of food produced in the U.S. Food is wasted at every level from production to the retail shelf. Lovin’ Spoonfuls facilitates the rescue and distribution of perishable, prepared and unserved foods that would otherwise be thrown away and wasted. We deliver this food directly to local crisis centers, soup kitchens and other social assistance entities.

Unfortunately over 50% of fundraising campaigns addressing these problems fail on the major CF platforms.

We’re changing this. HelpingB currently has a 100% success rate and intends to maintain a 80-90% success rate through investment in its due diligence and vetting process.

The word Ajiri means "to employ" in Swahili. Our goal is to create a sustainable cycle of employment and education in western Kenya. Ajiri's award-winning Kenyan black tea is handpicked on small-scale farms. Our Kenyan AA coffee is freshly roasted. We employ 60 women to hand-make the labels for each tea and coffee box using dried banana tree bark. Each label is unique. 100% of profits are donated to the Ajiri Foundation to pay school fees for orphans. Currently, we sponsor 29 students in school.
