These IP-protected technologies were tested and validated in the lab of Prof. Amir Amedi at the Hebrew university (co-founder) recruiting the visual cortex of blind people and enabling a new form of sensory experience.

For the 500 million annual infections that go undiagnosed, current malaria diagnostics are slow, expensive, inaccurate, and chemical-based, meaning they require refrigeration and clinical expertise.
But malaria parasites are magnetic. Our reusable, mechanical mechanical device offers a handheld, quantitative diagnosis for 1/10th the cost and 100x the detection level of competitors.

20 million people in developing countries need a wheelchair. Existing products don’t work on the rough terrain and break easily. We designed the Leveraged Freedom Chair (LFC) to solve this problem. It uses a lever drivetrain made from bike parts, enabling users to travel 80% faster than a standard wheelchair on tarmac and off-road like no other mobility aid available, while ensuring local repairability. The LFC empowers people with disabilities to access education, employment and independence.

Sanergy permanently reduces sanitation-related diseases in Africa's slums by making hygienic sanitation affordable, accessible, and sustainable. Our team of engineers from MIT and University of Nairobi have developed a low-cost high-quality sanitation center. We franchise a dense network of these sanitation centers across the slums to local entrepreneurs who run them as viable businesses. We collect the waste from each center and convert it to electricity and fertilizer that we sell for a profit

Our initial focus is applying our patented core technology to below knee amputees. Our lightweight device allows the same components to be fit to an 8 and an 18 year old and expand as needed to compensate for patient growth, while maintaining comfort. The device can be fit and adjusted with minimal training and equipment.

Miracle Messages helps homeless people record short video messages to their loved ones, and delivers them via social media as a step toward reuniting families. It’s deceptively simple, and it works. To date, our mobile and web apps have reunited 42 people, 14 of whom are now in stable housing. We just received a $200K grant to implement MM at a systems level in SF, and many other cities have reached out after learning about our impact from 350+ articles. Our goal is to reunite 1M people by 2021.

Adolescent girls globally face many health-related challenges, including inadequate nutrition and anemia, menstruation-related taboos, mental illness, gender-based violence, and teen pregnancy. Adolescence is a critical point of intervention to prevent poor health outcomes later, as these girls are on the cusp of womanhood. Girls Health Champions aims to train adolescent girls in these critical topics and cultivate peer educators who will become health leaders in their schools and communities.

Taste of Kenya was established to ensure farmers benefit through direct trade and the Kenyan coffee production improves. This will ensure farmers get better prices and are paid on time while roasters have access to premium Kenyan coffee supported by farm traceability.

Donor breast milk (DBM) is used to enhance the chances of survival and long-term health of sick and premature babies who have no access to maternal milk. There is currently a lack of equitable access to DBM across the UK. The HMB will also establish a first-of-its-kind research biobank to enable novel studies, collaborating with scientists across nutritional analysis, cancer research, microbiomics, and optimal donor milk usage. Surplus revenue will support local perinatal services.

LaunchPad Medical is developing Tetranite™, a bone adhesive that is gradually replaced by bone. Such a product has significant load-bearing strength and will provide a new tool for the surgeon to anchor metal implants, fill voids, and fix bone fragments back together while keeping procedures simpler, safer, and less expensive. Tetranite™ has a combination of strength, biocompatibility, and low cost to be commercially viable. The dental implant market will be the initial platform application.

Lack of mobility still the biggest barrier for independent life for the close to 300 million visually impaired people in the world. As current tools don't solve the problem entirely, we developed the Sunu band, a sonar bracelet that gently informs the user of obstacles in their way, making their mobility safer and easier. Product was field tested with leader authorities, manufactured and introduced to the market on October 2018.

Untrained community members are tasked with all of the long-term organizing and given no tools. We can launch TownName.Recovers.org in 2hrs, providing searchable databases, social media aggregation and mobile apps, allowing local organizers to efficiently marshal resources.

After applying for over 350 awards, I wanted to create a system that solved the inefficiencies of the three constituents in the private financial aid space: students, scholarship providers, and colleges. Scholarship providers have a difficult time finding applicants, 70% of students never apply for a scholarship because the process is too complex, and colleges cant keep up with the rising financial need.

ArtLifting is the bridge that connects homeless, disabled, and other disadvantaged artists with paying customers. Many skilled artists participate in art groups at hospitals and shelters to create wonderful pieces, but until ArtLifting, there was no sustainable marketplace where these artists could share their work. We sell our artists' work through two channels: an online marketplace (ArtLifting.com) and partnerships with commercial properties.
