MassChallenge HealthTech Announces 2020 Cohort of Top Digital Health Startups

December 18, 2019 (Boston) - MassChallenge, a global network of zero-equity startup accelerators, today announced that 27 digital health startups will join the 2020 MassChallenge HealthTech cohort. The 27 startups represent some of the world’s most innovative technologies to improve the overall patient experience and tackle some of healthcare’s massive challenges. MassChallenge HealthTech invites the community to meet the 2020 cohort at its Opening Night, a celebration of digital health’s best companies sponsored by J.P. Morgan, on January 16, 2020 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Drydock Hall in Boston, MA.

“Our applicants hailed from over 30 countries and our judging process proved to be incredibly competitive this year,” said Nick Dougherty, Managing Director of MassChallenge HealthTech. “The number of high-quality partnerships generated through matchmaking makes me extremely excited about what our entrepreneurs will accomplish with their Champion partners.”

After rigorous matchmaking, this year’s startup finalists received over 100 partnership offers from an impressive pool of institutions, providers, and payors looking to collaborate. Beginning in January, these industry organizations (MassChallenge HealthTech Champion Partners) will support their partner startups (the 27 MassChallenge HealthTech finalist cohort) throughout the program by facilitating key advisor introductions, pilots, research, and investment opportunities. Startups will also have access to tailored curriculum, co-working office space, industry experts and investors, and the opportunity to apply for need-based scholarships at zero cost and for zero equity. At the end of the program, startups will compete for over $200,000 in zero-equity cash prizes.

AARP, a MassChallenge HealthTech Champion partner, shares their excitement about the upcoming cohort. “We are excited about the 2020 cohort for the MassChallenge HealthTech program, and we are delighted to be a partner. We look forward to working with dynamic startups who are committed to improving the lives of people as they age and disrupting the status quo as it relates to healthcare,” said Jacqueline Baker, Director of Innovation Programming, AARP Innovation Labs.

To date, approximately 90 startups have participated in MassChallenge HealthTech’s annual program. They have raised more than $378M in funding, generated more than $52M in revenue, created over 1,200 jobs, and impacted millions of patient lives.
