Ray Denis spent 20 years on Wall Street. Now, he’s changing how capital moves through the financial system—by making it smarter, faster, and more accessible for wealth managers.
The Problem: Wealth Managers Are Flying Blind
Despite advances in financial technology, wealth managers still rely on fragmented, outdated processes to understand and serve their clients’ financial lives. Balance sheets live in spreadsheets. Cash flow reports are buried in PDFs. Loan origination? Manual, slow, and error-prone.
“You’re gathering balance sheet data that’s often in spreadsheets—sometimes even handwritten,” says Denis. “You’re also collecting cash flow data from tax returns. It’s all unique to each client, and then you try to feed that into a standardized lending model. Why can’t we standardize the data that’s coming in and feeding those models?”
The Solution: A Unified Open Finance Platform
Sandbox Wealth gives wealth managers, RIAs, family offices, and bank-adjacent platforms the tools to offer:
- Checking and savings accounts
- Custom credit products
- Enterprise-grade analytics
All of this is built on a shared, secure data infrastructure that gives clients, advisors, and lenders a real-time view of balance sheets and cash flows.
By breaking down data silos across financial institutions, Sandbox enables a faster, more intelligent movement of capital.
“We’re creating an ecosystem where capital moves faster because data moves faster—and everyone involved is seeing the same financial picture,” says Denis.
Why MassChallenge?
As part of the 2025 MassChallenge FinTech cohort, Sandbox Wealth partnered with MassMutual to simulate a real enterprise sales cycle.
“MassChallenge gave us a live dry run. We went through discovery, integration conversations, product adjustments—everything a real enterprise implementation would include,” says Denis. “Now we can take that playbook and replicate it with other institutions.”
Beyond the enterprise experience, the cohort itself proved invaluable.
“Everyone’s been collegial, collaborative. Whether or not we end up partnering with all of them, I know the people I’ve met here will be part of our journey moving forward.”
What’s Next for Sandbox Wealth?
Following a successful raise in the fall, the team is preparing for another funding round in late 2025. They’ve also built a strong pipeline of institutional partners—some of them household names.
“The foundation is laid. We’re ready to help firms serve their clients better,” Denis says. “That’s our mission—and with the support of MassChallenge and MassMutual, we’re set up to achieve it.”
