MassChallenge Texas Announces 84 Startups in Inaugural Class

A Texas version of Boston-based MassChallenge burst onto the Austin startup scene last fall. It toured a handful of Texas cities, talked to hundreds of startups and now it has announced its inaugural class of 84 startups. And its not just about Texas. MassChallenge Texas saw 520 applicants and invited 280 to pitch during a marathon session in Austin. And the 84 it picked come from five continents and 11 countries. 512Tech reported that 33 of the startups are from Austin. Meanwhile, MassChallenge notes that 32% are female founders.

A few Austin companies that immediately popped out at me were: Big Wheelbarrow, Black Fret, GrubTubs, Penguino Travel, re:3D, Inc., SenceTech and Shower Stream. But there are plenty of other established and stealthy startups on the list.
