MassChallenge, the global network for innovators, proudly announces the addition of Collin Wallace to its Board of Directors. A founder, engineer, investor, and thought leader, Collin brings a deep well of experience and a clear-eyed vision for the future of innovation.
With a background that spans from founding and scaling startups through Techstars and Y Combinator to serving as a Managing Director at Techstars and General Partner at Lobby Capital, Collin understands the entrepreneurial journey from every angle. Now, as a MassChallenge board member, he’s committed to empowering founders who are driving change in their industries and communities.
A Career Built on Disruption and Support
Collin Wallace’s startup roots run deep. He co-founded FanGo (TS S10, acquired by GrubHub) and ZeroStorefront (YC W19, acquired by Thanx), leading innovative solutions that redefined digital commerce. At Lobby Capital, he continues to back trailblazing companies like Stack AI and Baton AI. His passion for cultivating early-stage talent also finds expression in the classroom, where he teaches the popular “Startup Garage” course at Stanford GSB.
Collin’s breadth of experience informs his belief that the key to a founder’s success lies not in initial resources but in their drive and tenacity. “Artificial intelligence is making it easier than ever to start a company,” he says. “But the thing AI won’t solve is your willingness to push through difficulty, to stay that extra hour or ask that extra question.”
Why MassChallenge?
Collin has participated in multiple accelerators, including Techstars and Y Combinator. But MassChallenge, he says, stands apart: “The authenticity and founder-focused approach are what makes MassChallenge special. It’s not about picking winners and leaving the rest behind. It’s about lifting every founder with tailored support.”
This ethos aligns with Collin’s broader vision for innovation. “If we look at all major breakthroughs,” he reflects, “they almost always come from someone asking, ‘Does it have to be that way?’ That’s what founders do. They challenge the status quo.”
Equity in the Age of AI
As AI reshapes society, Collin is optimistic about its potential to level the playing field. “For decades, societal status came from the knowledge you possessed. AI is driving the cost of knowledge to zero. That gives us an opportunity to rebuild status and opportunity on more equitable terms.”
He hopes this new era of abundance can foster a more inclusive innovation economy—one that values grit and creativity over access and privilege.
Advice for Founders: Resiliency is Your Superpower
For those navigating the highs and lows of startup life, Collin offers hard-won wisdom: “Your challenges aren’t liabilities, they’re assets. That scar tissue from past obstacles is proof of your resilience. Lean into it.”
Through his board role, Collin aims to ensure MassChallenge continues to meet founders where they are, with respect, with resources, and with resolve to help them build better futures.
