MassChallenge Announces Top 18 startups for the FIA Smart Cities Global Start-Up Contest

February 15, 2019 (Renens) – MassChallenge Switzerland, part of MassChallenge’s global network of zero-equity startup accelerators, today announced the top high-tech startups selected for the second stage of the FIA Smart Cities Global Start-Up Contest. Chosen from 108 applicants from around the world, these 18 startups will have the chance to pitch and interact with the broader FIA network, gain visibility at global events while exposing their innovative ideas to stakeholders, powering them to new heights.

Designed as a multi-location competition, the contest will allow these top 18 startups to pitch in front of a panel of expert judges at three FIA Smart Cities Fora, taking place in Mexico City, Hong-Kong, and Rome at the E-Prix.

At each of these events, the expert panel will select two winners, who will showcase their products and solutions at the FIA Smart Cities Forum, both on stage and at a dedicated booth.

At the crossroads of Sport and Mobility, the FIA Smart Cities Forum helps cities define a path towards a sustainable future and brings together innovators and experts from different fields of sustainable mobility: from national and local authorities to important industry players, as well as research institutes and FIA Members.

The winners of the FIA Smart Cities Global Start-Up Contest will gain prime visibility within the FIA Smart Cities Fora and the Formula E ecosystems, as well as:

  • An opportunity to engage and interact with representatives of top leading companies and mobility experts, as well as with the Motoring Clubs of the region;
  • An invitation to the E-Prix, the FIA Mobility Conference and an introduction to the network of FIA Member Clubs, operating in 144 countries around the world;
  • Mentoring by FIA Smart Cities’ partners including blue-chip companies such as ABB, Michelin, Julius Bär and JCDecaux
  • An evaluation of business cooperation with FIA Smart Cities partners, and;
  • positive awareness and media coverage.

All top 18 pitching startups will receive free registration to attend the FIA Smart Cities Forum and the E-Prix, where they will meet with a community of high-level actors in mobility and urbanisation.
