15 Startups Selected for the Sixth Air Force Labs Cohort

Boston, MA (June 4, 2024) – MassChallenge, the global network for innovators, is excited to announce the 15 startups selected for the sixth Air Force Labs cohort.

Meet the startups in detail here.

The MassChallenge Air Force Labs program supports dual-use technology startups by fostering partnerships with the U.S. Air Force. Throughout the program, participating startups will engage directly with potential Air Force customers, advancing towards Phase II SBIR opportunities. This collaboration targets solutions for both commercial and defense applications, driving innovation in critical areas such as AI, cybersecurity, aerospace, and more. Learn more about the program.

In alignment with MassChallenge’s proven acceleration model, the 2024 cohort will participate in nine curriculum sessions, and benefit from the organization’s extensive network of mentors, experts, and industry leaders. By connecting with Air Force stakeholders and fellow innovators, these startups are positioned to make significant strides in dual-use technology development. Upon program completion, the startups will showcase their technologies and accomplishments at an in-person event on June 26 at the MassChallenge headquarters in Boston, MA.

After a successful program last year, Hanscom’s installation command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Alan Weary, Hanscom’s installation command chief, emphasized the importance of such partnerships: “Through partnerships like the one we have with MassChallenge, we’re able to bring together industry founders and capabilities that enable us to posture for competition and be successful.”

MassChallenge Air Force Labs: A Catalyst for Dual-Use Innovation

Since the program’s inception in 2019, MassChallenge Air Force Labs has supported 60 startups in achieving critical milestones and securing funding over $60M. The program serves as a vital bridge between the startup ecosystem and the defense sector, ensuring that innovative commercial solutions are adapted and deployed to meet national security needs.

“We were looking for a Memorandum of Understanding for our AFWERX Phase 2, it is because of [Air Force Labs] that we were able to find a customer/signer and submit a proposal last week. Whether we get the project or not, this was a great and very beneficial program, and we are looking forward to working with MassChallenge again!” – Karim Eldefrawy | Co-Founder & CTO, Confidencial (2023 cohort)

The connections CTO Confidencial made during the Air Force Labs program resulted in a customer memorandum from the Command, Communications, Intelligence & Networks PEO at Hanscom Air Force BaseI, and $1.8M in funding from AFWERX.
