Global Decarbonization Accelerator Launches to Fast-Track CO2 Reduction

Kaplak Partners and MassChallenge announce the first cohort of their Decarbonization Accelerator, a global program designed to fast-track scaleup-stage businesses taking aim at reducing CO2 emissions across multiple industries.

The program will engage a diverse group of entrepreneurs representing 10 companies based all over the world, from the U.S. to Europe to Asia. The 4-week accelerator program will launch January 23rd, 2023 and conclude in an in-person Demo Day in March in New York City. IBM Research will provide industry expertise through mentoring to participating founders.

“The launch of this program is truly exciting.  It marks a concerted and unique effort between organizations who have a shared vision and a bias towards action to meaningfully address climate change,” said Hope Hopkins, Head of Acceleration at MassChallenge.  “Collectively with these innovators we are making an important contribution to a healthier, regenerative future. “

“We are proud to leverage the global reach of MassChallenge, and the leadership expertise of the Kaplak Partners network, to support and scale a truly inspiring cohort of climate tech innovators,” said Matt Hooper, Managing Director of Kaplak Partners. “From food to fintech, from energy to aerospace, our founders are hard at work turning the greatest challenge of our time—the decarbonization of our entire economy—into the greatest opportunity of our time.”

“We believe that the technologies that will define the next century have already arrived, and that what’s required now is global cooperation and leadership to scale faster and convert decarbonization to a business opportunity,” said Jim Hagemann Snabe, Chair of Siemens and Chair of Kaplak Partners. “At Kaplak Partners, we are excited to launch the Decarbonization Accelerator in partnership with MassChallenge so that we can both deploy bleeding-edge decarbonization technologies at an industrial scale, and also provide mentorship to a new generation of purpose-driven business leaders.”
