In Response to Mass Tech Layoffs, MassChallenge Launches Tech Innovator Residency Program

The program will invite tech innovators recently laid off to join its global network and leverage MassChallenge’s resources

December 13, 2022MassChallenge, the global network for innovators, today announces its new Tech Innovator Residency Program, opening its doors to tech innovators who have been impacted by the recent wave of tech layoffs and are looking for space to launch their next career in entrepreneurship.

Beginning January 2023, tech entrepreneurs can occupy space in MassChallenge’s global headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts to engage with local entrepreneurs and experts, incubate ideas, and be inspired by the spirit of innovation. Benefits of the residency program include access to flex desk seating, use of designated office amenities, access to a community of innovators in Boston, and invitations to local networking opportunities and speaking engagements.

“Supporting the innovation economy is essential even, and especially, during times of economic uncertainty. At MassChallenge, we strive to find ideas that are solving some of the world’s most pressing problems, and invest our time and resources into the founders that are driving those solutions forward,” said Cait Brumme, CEO of MassChallenge. “With massive lay offs in the tech sector, we are here to support those who may be inspired to start a company, providing community, support and the basics of space.”

Lay offs in the tech industry has forced many to scramble to find new jobs or even explore different avenues, making professional networks increasingly important. MassChallenge is a unique innovation network, with five hubs in the U.S., 8 globally, and has had presence in over 20 countries. Startups that go through MassChallenge’s cohorts and programs are given unparallel mentorship and partnership, as well as equity-free cash prizes up to $1M each year for the startups that compete in the annual competition. This means that MassChallenge takes no stake in the future success of the startup and provides founders runway to continue to scale their businesses and use the prize money to put their ideas to work.

Earlier this year, MassChallenge released its 2022 Tech Work Report in partnership with A.Team, the members-only network that empowers the world’s top engineering, product, design, and marketing builders. The report highlights how tech leaders are adapting at this crucial moment in not only the tech industry at-large, but changing dynamics of their workforce.
