MassChallenge Boston Announces Top 26 Startups Competing for $1.5 Million in Cash Awards

 
Our entrepreneurs had a game-changing summer and Im very proud of all of the 2015 finalists, said MassChallenge Founder and CEO John Harthorne. These top 26 startups are poised to make a tremendous impact across a variety of industries from transportation to healthcare to robotics. Each of these startups has great potential, and I look forward to celebrating their achievements with the community at the Awards Ceremony.
 
Judges will select 10-20 startups from the top 26 who will win equity-free, non-dilutive grants of either $50,000 or $100,000, totaling $1 million. CASIS and Boeing will also award approximately $500,000 to MassChallenge Boston startups to fund research projects on the International Space Station.
 
The 2015 final judges include industry leaders and visionaries Josh Boger (Vertex Pharmaceuticals Founder), Desh Deshpande (Deshpande Foundation Founder), Sandra Fenwick (Boston Children’s Hospital President and CEO), Gail Goodman (Constant Contact CEO) and others.
 
In addition to distributing the $1.5 million in awards, the 2015 Awards Ceremony will include pitches from the 26 startups and a showcase of all 128 MassChallenge Boston finalists. Featured speakers at the ceremony will include Chobani Founder & CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.
 
MassChallenge also announced updated impact metrics for its 835 alumni startups, including the 218 from its 2015 cohorts in Boston and London. Since its first program in 2010, MassChallenge startups have raised over $1.3 billion in funding, generated over $575 million in revenue and created over 8,500 jobs.
