MassChallenge Hosts annual RESOLVE Awards Event at The State Room, Boston Awarding Nearly $1M Equity-Free Cash and Investment Prizes

On February 8, RESOLVE ‘24 MassChallenge Showcase and Awards recognized the founders at the frontier of change. Before the awards reception, MassChallenge hosted a startup showcase where 32 startups, including award finalists, demonstrated their innovations in Climate, Dual Use, FinTech, HealthTech, Social Impact and more!

After the startup showcase, MassChallenge Board Member and Head of Life Sciences at JLL, Travis McCready, opened the awards reception, welcoming nearly 300 guests and recognizing all the awards finalists in the room. The event welcomed members of MassChallenge’s global community including mentors, partners, experts, alums, and special guests. A keynote conversation between Cait Brumme, MassChallenge CEO, and Everette Taylor, Founder and CEO of Kickstarter spoke of the challengers – those who are bold enough to rise to the call of need in innovation, who takes on massive challenges and the important role supporters must play to build a flywheel for change.

“Over the last fifteen years, MassChallenge has remained motivated to radically empower entrepreneurs to drive progress, catalyzing a startup renaissance,” said Cait Brumme, MassChallenge CEO. “The startups we celebrated during RESOLVE represent the Contenders who dare to challenge the status quo in innovation through entrepreneurship. Through connectivity to networks, customers, capital, and other resources, we can collectively build a more sustainable future. Congratulations to the winners.”

Each year, RESOLVE awards is the culmination event of its U.S. Early Stage flagship accelerator program. The 2023 U.S. early-stage cohort welcomed founders from 186 startups, of which, 87% were first-time founders. The cohort also saw representation from 20 countries and solutions ranging from 44% HealthTech and life sciences, 20% High Tech, 13% Social Impact, 12% Energy and Clean Tech, and more. Forty percent of startups had at least one female or non-binary founder; 50% were BIPOC founded.

MassChallenge continued its traditional, hybrid program offering of a hyper-focused zero-equity model, providing entrepreneurs with digital and in-person curriculum, residency at MassChallenge regional offices, and access to curated, industry-based mentorship and an investor community. The Market Access Program also enabled founders to connect with key stakeholders in MassChallenge’s physical community in Boston. Collectively, these offerings introduced founders to resources and tools necessary to move the needle on producing positive outcomes that impart solutions and create meaningful change.
