MassChallenge Launches Applications for Its Boston Accelerator

BOSTON, JAN. 29  — MassChallenge, a global network of zero-equity startup accelerators, today announced that applications for the 2020 Boston program are now open. This year’s accelerator will support 100 of the world’s highest-growth startups through access to MassChallenge’s powerful network of support and resources. At the culmination of the four-month program, top startups will be awarded shares of more than $1 million in cash prizes at the 2020 MassChallenge Awards.

Drawing on more than 10 years of insights, the MassChallenge accelerator is designed to drive startup outcomes throughout the early-stage lifecycle. To date, MassChallenge has accelerated more than 2,344 startups, which have collectively raised more than $5 billion in funding, generated more than $2.7 billion in revenue, and created more than 136,000 total jobs

“Startups are an essential force to creating a more positive and productive future,” said Cait Brumme, Managing Director, MassChallenge Boston. “Our entrepreneurs are developing technology-led solutions to complex and significant problems – whether its designing new therapies to target cancer cells or leveraging robotics to strengthen national security. With ongoing support from the Boston community and our corporate partners, we are doubling down on making Boston a destination for exceptional entrepreneurs working at the frontier of science, technology  and markets.

While MassChallenge remains industry agnostic, the 2020 program intends to offer specialized resources to startups in the life sciences, enterprise technology,  safety and security and “bluetech” categories, which they have identified as emerging areas of local and global innovation.

In particular, MassChallenge will build on the success of its inaugural 2019 Safety and Security Track with support from top partners, including BAE Systems, Draper, MITRE, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. Through this, entrepreneurs will potential dual-applications (commercial and defense) receive the unique supports they need to access the scale and resources available through partnering with the defense ecosystem.

Startups interested in applying to the 2020 MassChallenge Boston accelerator can visit masschallenge.org/apply to get started on their application. The deadline to submit is February 12 (Early Bird) and March 9 (Final Deadline).
