Mexico City, Mexico – MassChallenge Mexico, part of MassChallenge’s global network of innovators, today announced the four prize winning startups from its 2020 accelerator program during its year-end event, which was held virtually and featured Marc Randolph, co-founder of Netflix, as the keynote speaker.
The prize winners of the accelerator are Mesa (Chile), Verqor (Mexico), Jelp (Mexico), and Signamy (Mexico). Unlike previous years where equity-free cash prizes were awarded, this year three in-kind prizes were awarded by Hubspot and two investment proposal prizes were awarded by Angel Ventures and DUX Capital.
“This year, we had to adapt to a virtual environment in order to continue to deliver the same tools, networks, and resources to our startups.” Said Camila Lecaros, Managing Director of MassChallenge Mexico. “While COVID-19 took us out of our comfort zone, we had the opportunity to expand our program and bring it to truly transformational businesses across LATAM – helping them create meaningful change throughout the region.”
The prize winners were announced during the MassChallenge Mexico Virtual Awards. Marc Randolph, Netflix co-founder and global entrepreneur, spoke to the 240 of participants about the importance of disrupting the status quo, and of actively pursuing new ideas without fear.
“You have to take the risk and do something, not waste time. You’ll learn more about it in one day than thinking about it for six months. It is trying hundreds of bad ideas until a really good one arrives ,” said Marc Randolph.
Additionally Ricardo Renteria from Amazon Web Services share his vision for how startups can scale quickly and safely by using the company’s solutions.
The virtual event ended with a look to 2021: MassChallenge Mexico announced that the application for its 2021 program will open on March 11. Learn more: masschallenge.org/apply.
