During the acceleration programme, MassChallenge Mexico will support the entrepreneurs with mentorships, work space, workshops and access to a diverse networks of experts, investors and world-class companies that will join them and do anything humanly possible so that the Mexican and Latin American entrepreneurs may grow and scale in the market, achieving with this, a growth in sales and investment.
Each startup will choose four mentors that have the specific expertise and vision according to their needs, and who will guide them in the process.
MassChallenge was founded to create opportunities for everyone. Our objective is to help the entrepreneurs around the world to solve the major problems of our society throughout the economic development driven by innovation, says John Harthorne MassChallenge Founder and CEO.
To us, the startups are the ones responsible for generating high quality jobs, wealth and creative solutions for any problems that might show up. Since 2009, MassChallenges global network has supported 835 alumni who have generated 8,500 jobs and raised a capital of $1.3 million dollars. Furthermore, 83% of the companies that were accelerated by MassChallenge continue to be active and 5% have been acquired. According to a study by MIT, the companies that go through the acceleration programme of MassChallenge are more likely to receive subsequent rounds of investment and get to hire 15 employees.
MassChallenge chose Mexico City to establish its fifth office after consolidating its presence in Boston, UK, Switzerland, and Israel. Its model seeks to make the Latin American market grow so that high impact startups in their early stage (meaning that their investment is less than $500K USD and their yearly income is less than 1 million USD) find a market in which they may develop their business and in this way, maximize their goals. This will generate development in the entrepreneurial ecosystem which will contribute to more companies achieving success stories throughout the creation of jobs and opportunities.
Mexico represents a window into the Latin American market and it is a meeting point with different entrepreneurial ecosystems. We can find an enthusiastic, creative, and proactive participation of Mexicans and Latin Americans in past programmes of MassChallenge; this is why we chose Mexico to continue with our global effort in supporting entrepreneurship, says Camila Lecaros, Managing Director of MassChallenge Mexico.
MassChallenges programme in Mexico adds up to the international actions that will take place in their other headquarters located in Boston, UK, Switzerland, and Israel. In 2015, MassChallenge received more than 2,250 applications from startups located in more than 60 different countries around the world.
Entrepreneurs from all industries will be able to apply until the application deadline on June 29th, 2016. To participate you can visit their website at http://apply.masschallenge.org/mexico
