Thomson Reuters Joins MassChallenge as Platinum Sponsor

We are pleased to partner with MassChallenge as we build our Data Innovation Lab in Boston, said James Powell, Chief Technology Officer for Thomson Reuters. The Innovation District is a strong community for entrepreneurs and start ups, and MassChallenge provides a valuable model for engagement.

Already a global leader in big data, Thomson Reuters partnership with MassChallenge enhances its role as a major resource in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Thomson Reuters has an innovative vision for big data startups, and we are honored to count them as a partner, said MassChallenge Founder and CEO John Harthorne. The wealth of information and technology resources that Thomson Reuters brings to the table makes them an enormous asset to entrepreneurs here in Boston and all over the world.

MassChallenge will award over $1.7 million in cash grants to winning early-stage startups at the MassChallenge Awards Ceremony on October 29. The global nonprofit has committed to launch accelerators in ten cities by 2019, beginning with MassChallenge UK in London later this year.

In April, MassChallenge announced that more than 1,600 startups from 50 countries and 41 states submitted applications to participate in the 2014 accelerator program its largest applicant pool ever. Since launching its first class in 2010, 489 MassChallenge alumni startups have raised over $550 million in outside funding, generated a more than $350 million in revenue and created more than 4,000 jobs.
